Coco Martin started his star in the world of independent films. That is the common knowledge of many fans but the truth is that he started in ABS-CBN as part of the Star Magic talents of the said company. But during his stay in ABS-CBN, he was not given the break although he has the potentials of a great actor.
That brought Coco Martin to the world of indie films. A director discovered his talent and invited Coco to do an indie film. The first indie movie done by Coco Martin was a hit in the critics' eyes as it garnered awards from different film festivals. Not only the first movie but a lot of indie movies done by Coco Martin garnered awards not only in the Philippines but also from international competitions as well.
That fate caught the eyes of the bigwigs of ABS-CBN and they brought Coco Martin again to their backyard. He was then given projects and as of this writing, he is the lead role in a primetime soap opera. It is indeed Coco Martin's time to shine.
